About CareYaya
Founded - 2022 | Based in - Durham / Research Triangle Park, NC | Stage - Series A
Highlight
CareYaya connects families with trained healthcare students for affordable home care, while giving future clinicians hands-on patient-care experience.
Problem
Home care in the US is expensive, understaffed, and hard to access for many families. At the same time, healthcare students need direct patient-care hours before entering medical, nursing, and other health programs. CareYaya brings both necessities under one roof.
USP
CareYaya is building a student-powered caregiving network rather than following a traditional support model. The platform connects healthcare students with older adults who need companionship and assistance. The name derives from ‘Yaya’, a term meaning grandmother or caregiver in many languages, and also stands as an acronym for ‘You Are Your Advocate.’ CareYaya also claims it has 50,000 students serving their communities and has contributed $10 million to student higher education.
